Effects of Some Factors on Reproduction Performance of Akkaraman Sheep in Breeder Flocks in Konya Province, Turkey

In this study, 1408 Akkaraman ewes were used in order to determine the effects of age and year on the conception rate, prolificacy, productivity and viability. The least-squares means for these parameters of all flock were found as follows; 91.27±0.11 %, 135±0.30 %, 86.38±0.01 % and 94.63±0.01 %, respectively. In addition, the effects of sex of lamb and birth type on viability were also studied. Except for viability, effects of the age on these parameters were found to be statistically significant (P<0.01). The maximum productivity was obtained with 2-years old ewes. The year factor had a significant effect on all parameters (P<0.01 and P<0.05). Sex and birth type effects on the viability were not statistically significant.
